How did YOU stumble upon Johannes Cabal?

I was in a Barnes and Noble in Sacramento, and it was on one of the aisle caps for recommended fiction. I picked it up, and an employee walked by and said ‘Oh yeah, I recommended that one. If you like dark humor, it’s right up your alley.”
So, what’s your story?

I have a rather long answer so I’m going to reblog: 

I was at a closing Borders and found the second one, thought it sounded awesome, then forgot the name of it. Could have sworn I wrote it down on a piece of paper. Found it by chance a month later when I became determined to find it again (I had bought a book that day right next to it in the sci-fi/fantasy section called The Half-Made World and so I browsed similar titles on Amazon until I found it). 

And the world was made right the day I hit “purchase”.
